When cell service drops — in an outage, an evacuation, or just a crowded emergency shelter — a radio is how your family stays connected. The Mountain Radio is the one we’d hand to everyone: it runs on license-free FRS channels, so there’s no paperwork and no learning curve, and it’s small and simple enough that a kid or a grandparent can work it with one button.
If you need more range for a spread-out property or rural area, step up to the Rocky Talkie 5 Watt. But for keeping a family together and reachable, the compact Mountain Radio is the easy, grab-and-go pick.
